Another cruise line cuts back in Europe

Regent Seven Seas has become the latest cruise line to cut back its European sailings due to weak demand.

The luxury operator has cancelled over 20 Mediterranean cruises in late 2014 and has replaced them with sailings in the Americas, South Pacific, Middle East and South Africa.

The cancelled cruises are Seven Seas Mariner’s previously-planned Mediterranean cruises from September 23 to December 18, and cruises from October 21 to November 28 on Seven Seas Voyager.

Regent’s announcement comes just days after Carnival announced it was pulling out of Europe for 2014.

Royal Caribbean also announced earlier this month that it was cutting back on the number of ships in Europe, from 11 in 2012, to nine this year and to seven in 2014.
